- What classes are offered? –
NPC Contracting offers two different swimming pool operators
training classes. We offer one class designed primarily for students that
have never taken a swimming pool operators course. This is an eight hour
course and is generally either a one day class of eight hours, or a two day
class with two, four hour sessions. We also offer a recertification course
for students that have previously taken an accredited course (recognized at
the time the class was originally taken). This is a three hour course.
- What is the objective of the course? – The
objective of the class is to train students is the basic fundamentals of
swimming pool operations. In addition to the basic training provided in the
class, it in necessary that prior to the operation of any swimming pool, the
following minimum steps are required by the swimming pool operator, prior to
the operation of any swimming pool:
1. Obtain sufficient knowledge of the swimming pool ordinance for the
jurisdiction that their facility is location in.
2. Be thoroughly trained on the physical plant of swimming pool facility that
they intend to operate, by a trained swimming pool industry professional.
3. Familiarize themselves with the specifics of the swimming pool facility.
4. Comply with licensing requirements in the jurisdiction that the swimming
pool is located in.
Additionally, the minimum age to be a pool operator is 16.
- What is the cost of the courses? – The full class is $100 pre-registration and the renewal class is $60 pre-registration.
- Do I need to provide an ID? – All students are
required to present original government issued identification, along with a
Xeroxed copy of that identification, to the instructor at the commencement
of the class.
- What type of proof is needed for the
recertification class? – If you are registered for the recertification
class you will need to provide a Xeroxed copy of your expired pool
operator’s certification to the instructor at the commencement of the class.
- How do I register? – Click on the link for the
mail-in application, which is located on the home page. Fill out the
application and mail in the application to the address on the application.
Along with the application include a check for the proper amount payable to
NPC Contracting.
- What materials will I need to bring to the class?
- It is suggested that you bring paper for taken notes, a calculator and
two #2 pencils for the test.
- Are there study materials for the course and what
is the cost? – There is a study guide which is included in the cost of
the registration. The study guide is emailed to the student in a PDF
format. The PDF requires Adobe Acrobat Reader which is a free download.

- What are the requirements for the swimming pool
operators training class? – The full class is an eight hour classroom
course. The classroom experience includes a PowerPoint presentation, study
review and a test. In addition to the eight hour classroom training
students are required to study the “Guide to Professional Swimming Pool
Operations” prior to taking the classroom portion of the course. The
recertification class is a three hour refresher course which includes a
question and answer period as well as a test,
- Is there a certification provided? – After the
student has successfully taken and passed the test a certification is mailed
to the student.
- How long is the registration valid for? – The
registration is valid for a period of three (3) years from the date of the
completion of the class.
